01 / Trial proportioning

Bituminous concrete mix

Enter one proposed composition. Coarse aggregate is calculated as the balance so the final mixture always totals 100%.

Design inputs

Percentages are by total mixture mass unless noted.

ⓘ

Calculation basis Plastic is treated as an additive by bitumen mass. Its equivalent percentage of the total mixture is included in the 100% mass balance.

02 / Specimen preparation

Cylindrical mould quantity

Calculate the internal mould volume and the mass of material required to fill it at a specified density.

Internal volume0.000515 m³
Required material mass1.236 kg

Calculated with π × diameter² ÷ 4 × height.

03 / Transparent methodology

Know what every number means

This calculator supports preliminary trial proportioning. Final mix approval still requires laboratory testing and the project’s governing specification.

01

Explicit basis

Bitumen, filler and aggregates are percentages of total mixture mass. Plastic is entered separately as a percentage of bitumen mass.

02

Automatic balance

Coarse aggregate is the remainder after all other components, guaranteeing a traceable 100% total when the mix is valid.

03

Guardrails, not approval

Inputs are checked against the declared working ranges. Marshall stability, flow, air voids and other laboratory criteria remain essential.

Engineering note

Working ranges shown here mirror the project brief and are configurable design guardrails—not a substitute for checking the current edition of applicable MoRTH, IRC, IS, ASTM or agency specifications.

04 / Original project guidance

Bituminous concrete quantity calculations

Calculate the proportioning of bituminous concrete using a job-mix formula and the Marshall Stability method.
